In the 22^nd Century our global society has ‘fast-forwarded’ from the early 21^st Century.  A gripping fear of imminent final-global-ruin pervades our culture.  Global warming has spun out of control. Three-fourths of the world’s plant species are extinct. Half of our bird species have vanished.  Our big-fish species – cod, tuna and swordfish – are gone.  Waste management is virtually non-existent.  Everyday life is governed by breathing devices to aid respiration. 

     Major global governments have merged to form one Planetary Administration in the belief that central control will better serve the common good and achieve a carbon-neutral environment.  Recognizing our major food commodities are driven by overindulgence in fast food (it’s cheap, convenient and filling),  Planetary Administration establishes large cartels, awarding far reaching authority to manage our resources, particularly our food chain.  In the beginning, the food cartels were good, bringing an end to global hunger by issuing food-ration cards for all.  Predictably, with a selfish, predatory strategy, the most corrupt of these cartels, Globulate, Inc. seizes the opportunity to exploit the situation by using unregistered food-ration cards to reward certain individuals with ‘bonus’ quantities.  

     Through shrewd politicking, Globulate gains control over the majority of food production and distribution.  Further, with this government-sanctioned monopoly, it greedily exploits its position of power by organizing the Secret Satiety Police (SSP) to enforce mandatory food consumption quotas for everyone.  Neighborhood scales-and-mirror spies – called ‘Zoners’ –  report violations to the Secret Satiety Police and its enforcement squad headed by Gerd (The Enforcer) Reflux and his chief corrections officer, The Porkinator.   Accordingly, Globulate’s  insidious leverage allows it to maximize profits and dole-out executive mega-bonuses, ostensibly while serving the common good.  

     Globulate goes unchallenged… except for one secret underground society known as the Order of ECCE and its front organization named Quality Food Quickly (QFQ), a large proprietary food operation specializing in fresh, wholesome, healthier fare.  To some, QFQ is the one shining light.  In these dark days, it sparks a glimmer of hope.  Through its ancient Code of ECCE and under the undaunted leadership of Sir Rex Freshward, QFQ rejects the Globulate mandate of overindulgence and clings to its Code of proven healthy eating principles:   Eat Carefully, Control Excess (ECCE).
